Easy Ways to Remove Car Dents and Dings

If you have been involved in a collision or if you have recently banged into a wall or anything else of the sort then you’ll probably have a huge dent in the side or front of your car. This can make your car look very unsightly and it can also make your car depreciate in value as well. If you don’t want to pay out for a repair or if you don’t want to make a claim on your insurance to cover this then there are ways for you to fix the dent yourself.

Plunger

You can actually use a plunger to try and remove some of the dents and dings from your car. This only tends to work with small and medium dings but it is well worth trying if you want to save money. All you have to do is place some water on your plunger and then again on the dent before you push and pull to try and get the dent to pop out. You’ll want to use a cup plunger for this, and they are very affordable to use. This may take some elbow grease, but it’s worth a shot. If you have been in an accident and are injured as a result then you may find it hard to do this, so consider hiring a personal injury lawyer. You can find a good one here, if you want to find out more.

Boiling Water

Reversing into something is one of the easiest ways for you to dent your bumper or even the back of your car. If you have a plastic bumper then you won’t be able to use the above method to try and remove the dent, but there is another method that you can use. All you have to do is pour some boiling water on the dent so that you can loosen the plastic. As soon as you have done this, reach behind the bumper and try and pull it out. The heat of the water will make the plastic way more flexible and it is a great way for you to really get your car looking like new again.

Hair Dryer

Another method that you can use involves a hair dryer and a little bit of compressed air. You’ll need to heat up the dent with the hair dryer until it gets very hot. This will help to expand the plastic and when it is hot enough, use the compressed air to cool the metal down. This will cause the metal to contract and it will pop itself out. This method is more complicated when compared to the plunger method but if you can’t seem to get the plunger method to work then this is a great way for you to really get the best result out of your dent repair at home.

So there are plenty of ways for you to repair your own car dents, and you’d be surprised to see how easy it is for you to save money throughout the whole process.
