Jaguar is no stranger to building innovative and stylish vehicles. Even models like the old E-Type from the 1960s is still a firm favourite with many an enthusiast! The firm’s fortunes have increased in recent years. And that’s thanks largely to investment from its parent company, Jaguar Land Rover.
Based on the Jaguar C-X17 concept car, the F-Pace is a crossover SUV that will go on sale at some point in 2016. The British car maker says the new F-Pace will create 1,300 new jobs at its Solihull manufacturing plant.

According to Jaguar’s Design Director, the C-X17 concept car received a favourable reception. The company feels that the new F-Pace will do well once it goes on general sale next year. You won’t find any models on display at dealers like H.A. Fox Jaguar but there is some good news if you want to see a sneak peek!
The AutoBlog website posted up some spy shots last month of a camouflaged Jaguar F-Pace getting tested. Presumably the tests are happening somewhere in Europe. That would make sense, as it would be in keeping with other Jaguar production “mule” tests.
It’s no secret that the new Jaguar F-Pace Crossover will get built using the same aluminium architecture that the XE uses. On first reflection, the car looks similar to the Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne. It’s worth pointing out that Jaguar could make any number of styling changes between now and when the car goes into production.
The Jaguar F-Pace mule spotted in the wild features some similarities to its Range Rover cousins. For instance, it got snapped sporting LED headlights and a prominent front-end. The rear window is small, just like with the various current Range Rover models.
One can spot thin wraparound taillights at the rear of the vehicle. In fact, it’s fair to say that the new F-Pace looks like a cross between the new 2015 Jaguar XE saloon and a Range Rover of some description!
There was no mention on the various automotive blog sites about what engine the pre-production model had. Nor are there any details on what Jaguar will offer when the car goes into production.
It’s likely that the new 2016 Jaguar F-Pace Crossover will feature the option of some supercharged V6 and V8 powerplants. After all; it would be rude not to follow in the footsteps of its older siblings!
We think that the Jaguar F-Pace will also come with rear-wheel drive as standard. Although we mustn’t rule out the possibility of a 4×4 version in the mix. What is also likely is that the engines offered will get paired with existing transmissions. For example, F-Type buyers can choose from an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual.
Not much else is known about the new 2016 Jaguar F-Pace. But, as Jaguar becomes 80 years old this year, it’s likely we might have more of a sneak peek as part of the firm’s birthday celebrations. Stay tuned!
