If you are purchasing a car for your family, it is perhaps wise to consider the different brands and vehicle producers. There are certainly various choices here from Audi to Volvo, to Nissan or Mitsubishi and many more. But why should you care about the brand when you purchase a brand new car for your family? Well, the brand can tell you a lot about the type of car that you are purchasing. It can show you whether the producers top priorities are the same as yours. Or, whether they are opting for something that is far from your interests.
For instance, a brand that focuses mainly on speed probably isn’t going to be that appealing to families. That’s why you won’t see many dads driving around in a Ferrari, no matter how much they might want to. Okay, so, which brands should you be most interested in as a parent? These are our top selections.
Volvo might seem like a weird brand for car buyers to focus on. Let’s face it, they’re not the most interesting car brand on the market today…are are they? Actually, Volvo is making great strides on the market, particularly for family buyers.
Volvo has always been a top brand for parents looking for a great family car. While the brand has dabbled with other concepts, most of their vehicles can best be described as a family saloon. If you head to www.wcvolvocars.com, you’ll see that a lot of the cars on sale there would be the perfect fit for your family. They are comfortable with plenty of space and a variety of fantastic options. Volvo is also quite reliable, though perhaps not the most reliable option on the market, but we’ll get to that later. However, their commitment to family cars isn’t what makes them interesting to us.
Instead, we’re far more interested in the future of the company and what they are have promised for drivers on the roads in the next few years. Specifically, Volvo managed to make headlines a couple of years ago when they announced that by 2020, there would be no more fatalities or serious injuries in a new Volvo. That’s a big, bold statement and there are a few pieces to unpack before you we get too excited.
First, despite the eye-catching headlines on www.extremetech.com, claiming Volvo are building death proof cars, that’s not what the CEO meant. Obviously, if you drive like a maniac or are stupid on the road, then you do run the risk of getting hurt. Instead, CEOs are suggesting that people who drive safely in their Volvo will avoid the most horrific events that can occur on the road. This is still incredibly impressive and quite a brave suggestion. Particularly, when you consider that 2020 is only two years away!
That said, there is evidence to suggest that Volvo can pull off this accomplishment. First, they already have a car on the road that is providing an impressive track record to work with. In the UK, the Volvo X90 has never been involved in a fatal crash since it’s 2002 release. Interestingly, it wasn’t even voted the safest car of the year. Still, the stats speak for themselves and if you think that this is just because the UK doesn’t have many fatal car crashes think again. There are thousands of fatal crashes on the UK roads every year with a total of 309,000 between 1951 and 2006. Therefore, the fact that this car hasn’t been involved in any suggests more than dumb luck at play.
Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla constantly makes headlines. Recently, he suggested that he could build a submarine to rescue the trapped divers in Thailand. You can read about that on www.mashable.com. Fortunately, the children were rescued before this sub, that could be built in eight hours, was put to the test. However, that doesn’t change the fact that many people believe that Musk would have accomplished this job.
Afterall, Musk is well known for incredible technological achievements, and that’s certainly true when it comes to Tesla. Tesla is pioneers in both green cars and cars they are autonomous. So, if you are interested in saving money on fuel or having a car that eliminates the issue of human error on the roads, then this is the brand that you need to keep an eye on. Unfortunately, right now, the cars that Tesla produce are not cheap. If you want an electric car that will travel hundreds of miles without needing a top up, the cheapest you could expect to pay is roughly 60K. Add ten thousand more on if you’re interested in an autonomous vehicle. So, you’ll need to survive, but it’s a worthwhile investment. Particularly, if you want to go green. It will however depend on where you live. While the support for electrical vehicles is growing, we’re not quite at the point where it’s easy to find a port for your car, no matter where you are.
Last but not least, let’s turn our attention to Lexus. If you don’t know much about Lexus, the easiest way to think about the brand is as the fork for Toyota into luxury vehicles. With Lexus, you’ll get a gorgeous car that will treat you will on the roads, and we really do mean that. You see Lexus is considered to be the top brand for reliability on the roads. No one wants to be stuck at the side of the road in a vehicle. But you especially don’t want this to happen when you have kids in the backseat. Well, according to stats, purchasing a Lexus will ensure that this is least likely to happen and keep you away from the mechanics for as long as possible.
Again Lexus is a luxury car brand, and it will certainly cost more than the typical Toyota. However, you will certainly be getting excellent value for money, and there is no doubt that you will have made a fantastic choice for your family car purchase.
